Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design PIDA AWARDS 2023: Herma InNo Liner; Industry Professional of the Year
Michael Dossor has been contributing to the industry for over 30 years by bringing innovative packaging equipment and solutions from all over the world, collaborating with European and American brands, some of which are the largest companies in their field. Each partner was deliberately chosen based on a specific technology feature that is unique in the Australian market, giving Australian customers a distinct advantage.
Michael ensures that these packaging materials and solutions not only meet customers’ requirements for functional properties but are also developed with renewable or recyclable materials and contribute to sustainability.
One of the many examples is the recently introduced Linerless labels Herma InNo Liner to reduce waste and protect the environment. Herma InNo Liner is a new labelling system introduced by Result Group that is completely sustainable, contains no liner material, free of silicone, and enables more eco-friendly packaging through shipping labels that do not contain any liner material ( a proud winner of PIDA 2023).
Another latest innovation in coding and marking that has been taking the industry by storm is EcoMark Natural Branding ,“packaging without packaging”. Over the last few years, Michael Dossor worked hard to partner and collaborate with global companies in coding and marking space, EcoMark and Macsa in order to bring the unique technology to the Australian market.
The new EcoMark Natural Branding provides a non-contact and safe labelling technique that creates an image on the peel – a high resolution laser removes colour from the fruit or vegetable’s outer layer of skin; and literally acts as a tattoo on a variety of goods, making plastic-free packaging a reality…… packaging without packaging.
EcoMark Natural Branding is the new, sustainable, and cost-effective alternative to produce unit labelling, as it has the potential to completely eliminate the need for those pesky little fruit labels and the silicon liner that goes with them, and it contains zero ink. The new system has no labeller; not to mention ridiculously good ROI – zero label cost and no lock in contracts for consumable. The advantages are endless…
The new laser technology may be used on any food with any a robust skin, including: apple, avocado, apricot, banana, grapefruit, kiwi, lemon, lime, mandarin, pear, orange, papaya, peach, passion fruit, to name a few; it is becoming increasingly popular for conventional goods such as bread, biscuits, chocolate…

In recent years Michael has developed a passion for Food Waste. He brings the most unique innovations and sustainable solutions to the country and shares his expertise by speaking at events, presenting at tradeshows to emphasize the importance of the role of Active & Intelligent packaging in minimizing food loss and water across the value chain.
Wining a WorldStar Award, the most prestigious and important packaging award in the globe, is the big achievement. Being the ATGA Traceability Pilot technology provider and contributing to one of the largest initiatives ever to be recognised at the worldwide level is significant for Michael, Result Group, and the industry as a whole.
To assist grape growers to connect with consumers and supply chains as well as consumer safety and quality standards, Result Group used the industry customised traceability platform, a label printing and management programme NiceLabel, as well as process automation and scanning technologies, designed to collect end-to-end shipping data.
The overall concept was to sell more Australia Table Grapes by proving authenticity and provenance. Setting high quality Australian produce in a space of its own … all done with virtually no disruption to current grape harvest and packing processes.
One of the other achievements is a Natural Branding that has been rapidly gaining traction around the world, and now brought and introduced to the Australian market by Michael Dossor. He is very dedicated and passionate about this innovative technology and the positive impact it can have on the industry and on reducing food waste by removing those pesky labels on fruits and vegetables.
Michael is confident that we can help our planet by switching to alternative packaging, natural branding, which is undeniably more cost effective and protects the environment and climate. Result Group has received the most positive feedback since its launch date (2 months ago), and this is just the beginning of the journey. This revolutionary technology has taken the industry by storm.
As a Result Group team, we believe the industry will continue to hear about Michael’s achievements and the latest unique technology he will bring, as he keeps accelerating in his journey… He will keep playing a critical role in sustainability, food waste reduction projects and the overall future of the industry…
